A Day at the Lake

Several amazing things happened today. Sara came up from nyc to spend the day with us as tomorrow is graduation, but tomorrow is full of family obligations, so she had to come up a whole day early just to hang out with us (read: me). So we decided to spend the whole day at Robert's lake house. We were going to go up around 10, but apparently Greyhound sucks and her 8:45 pm bus got turned into a 1 am bus. Anyway, we got up to the lake around 1 pm and spent until about 8 there, lounging in the sun, playing cards, kayaking and rafting, trying to net fish, drinking lots of Mike's, etc. Here are some highlights.
First of all: Me falling off the kayake and getting almost all (about half my shirt and head and everything below my chest) wet. It was spectacular. I can't even imagine how I fell out, I just wasn't even paying attention.
2) Fish! There were between 30 and 50 fish, all kinds, just hanging out below the deck, which, apparently, is built to be a "crib" so fish feel welcome. They were all over, really pretty and cool at first but then got to be a nuisance as we wanted to swim and they would not go away which leads me to...
3) Matt jumped in and got a fish tooth splinter when he probably hit a fish with his finger while diving into their midst.
4) Mattatee (like manatee). I don't remember the context of this one, but I'm sure it was hilarious.
5) Calling Bill about 294 times to make sure he was coming and when he was coming and bringing the truck and saying that it is 7 miles to PA and all sorts of other random information that clearly cannot all be said in one phone call. Also, we made him bring chips, all the way from his house to the lake.
6) The woman who stared at us and then realized she didn't know us and then came down onto the deck to make sure she didn't know us and that we had a reason for being on the deck despite the fact that Robert, our connection to the deck, was not there. We convinced her he would be arriving soon, but he never did, as goes lake party tradition.
7) I only got mildly sunburnt, which is spectacular as I was really lazy with the sunscreen (read: put it on my face and thats about it). Sara, on the other hand, did not so much fade her weird tan lines on her back, try as she might by...
8) Not moving for about 4 hours. Sara laid on her back on that chair for a very long time, not moving to shuffle cards or get herself a drink or anything. It's a talent.
9) Feeding the fish noodles while Matt tried to net them, it worked well, he caught one, only to return it. Watching them spawn was really growing old at that point.

That's all I can think of for now. It was an amazing day, rounded off with italian ice while watching boys play frisbee (very poorly), Bug's Life on tv, nachos, and Coupling.

It's days like this when I almost don't miss my friends from school every 20 seconds...almost.

In other news... I really need to make up my mind, and time is passing every moment, whether I want it to or not.

Apartment!

So it's really coming together! We found two of three subletters among our friends and the third is staying for two of the three months (better than nothing) and seems to be pretty nice. I have bought all my bedroom furniture and a lot of communal stuff too like tv, entertainment center, kitchen table, etc. We are moving in at the end of this week, which is super exciting! We have set up gas, electric and internet, so it's really coming together!

For finals, I had two papers due last week and my mammals test yesterday, so now it's just Biochem (the hardest) thursday morning and I'll be done. I need to pack and find a summer job (which is kind of happening, but not fast enough for me). So I guess I'm just hoping it all falls into place.

Here's wishing...
